A caption may keep the same position while its color, scale, or wording changes, so what you remove in one frame may not match the next. These illustrated layouts show what to inspect; they are not measured processing results.
A short opening word can become a much wider phrase a moment later, so a mask sized to remove the first word will miss the wider one. Scrub the original to find the longest line, its outline, and any shadow. If the caption is an editable layer in your project, hide that layer and export again instead of trying to remove flattened pixels. For flattened words, remove only a region that covers the changing text without covering an entire lower band.
Social captions often highlight one word at a time, add a colored box, or enlarge the active word, and each of those states needs its own check before you remove it.
